Toby's Place Gala Fundraiser 2017

Thank You!

Toby's Place is a sanctuary for LGBTQ+ youth in the southwest Scarborough area, where all who enter will have the opportunity to be nourished in body and soul. Toby's Place offers comfort, support, inspiration and encouragement for individual, community and global transformation by affirming both the reality and the dreams, of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, 2-spirited, queer and questioning youth and their friends in this community.  Toby's Place is a space where LGTBQ+ youth can see real and exciting new possibilities for their future and comes from a need where there are almost no services currently.

We thank the people of Toronto who showed up at The 519 Ballroom despite a winter storm and got way more entertainment than the price of admission. A special thanks to our performers who offered their time allowing us to raise ~$19,000 for programs and food at Toby's Place.  Host Maggie Cassella and director Randy Vancourt showcased some of Toronto's best sketch, improv and standup comedy artists including: Kathryn Greenwood (Whose Line Is It Anyway), Teresa Pavlinek (The Jane Show), Robin Duke (SCTV, SNL), Debra McGrath and Neil Crone (Little Mosque on the Prairie), Peter Wildman (The Frantics), Leslie Seiler (improv/sketch expert), John Moore (Moore in the Morning, CFRB), Jennifer Walls singer/impressionist and standups Aastha Lal and Shannnon McDonough.

We also send our appreciation to those who volunteered their time to make this event a success and to our sponsors especially The519, Long & McQuaid, Hogtown Brewery, Affirm United, Rev. Cheri DiNovo MPP Parkdale-High Park, Peter Tabuns MPP Toronto-Danforth, A. Beth Moore Law Firm and many others.

You can continue to give a one-time or ongoing donation by going to Birchcliff Bluffs' Canada Helps site and use the Toby's Place drop down or bring an offering to the Church.

Again, thank you and blessings. We look forward to seeing you next year for this fabulous event.
